Tungnath Temple Trek

Situated at an elevation of 3680 m (12073 feet), adorned on the Chandranath Parvat, Tungnath (literal meaning – Lord of the Peaks) is known to be one of the highest temples of Lord Shiva in the world. Among the 5 Panch Kedar temples of the Tungnath mountain range in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. This temple near Chopta is said to be discovered by Adi Shankaracharya. Possessing a rich legend associated with that of the Pandavas in the Mahabharata, the temple of Tungnath or the Tritiya Kedar is believed to be around 1000 years old

Chandrashila Trek

Chandrashila, meaning Moon Rock, is the summit of Tungnath located at an altitude of 4000 m (13000 feet) above sea level. On the Chandrashila peak, one can savor the view of the Himalayas, including those of Nanda Devi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpoonch and Chaukhamba peaks. The legend of this place is associated with that of Lord Rama and Moon God Chandra. One of the most popular treks in India, the trek to the peak for Chandrashila is approximately 5 km long. The trek starts from Chopta towards Tungnath and after that, there’s a steep trek for Chandrashila.

Omkar Ratneshwar Mahadev Mandir

Also known as the Devariya Nag Temple, this temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. The holy shrine, Omkar Ratneshwar Mahadev Temple is situated en route to Deoria Tal from Sari Village, Uttarakhand. To reach this temple, you need to trek around 1 km uphill from Sari Village towards Devariya Tal. This temple possesses quite an architecture. Sari Village

Deoria Tal

The Deoria Tal lake is situated at a distance of around 3 km from Mastura and Sari on the Ukhimath – Chopta road in Uttarakhand. Located in the laps of wonderfully grenn surroundings and snowy mountains, it is at an elevation of 2438 m. Rich legends of Mahabharata are connected with the Deoria Tal Lake

Baniyakund

Baniyakund is the suburb where the meadow line for Chopta hill station originates. The settlement of Baniyakund is situated at an altitude of 2450 m above sea level, 4 km before Chopta. The trek for Chopta, Tungnath and Chandrashila can start from Baniyakund also.  

Ukhimath

Ukhimath is a Hindu Pilgrimage site, situated at a distanct of 41 km from Rudraprayag and 13 km from Guptakashi district of Uttarakhand. Ukhimath is located at an elevation of 1311 m. Ukhimath is the winter abode of Kedarnath, Madhyamaheshwar and Tungnath. Various other temples devoted to Usha, Anirudda, Parvati and Mandhata are situated in Ukhimath. The holy town of Ukhimath is located on the connecting road of Guptakashi and Gopeshwar. Rich legends and anciet histories of Hindu mythology are connected with this place.

Kalimath

Kalimath is a village in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, situated at an elevation of 6000 feet on the Saraswati river in the Himalayas. According to Srimad Bhagwat Gita, the holy shrine of Kalimath is one of 108 Shakti Peethas in India. Goddess Kali, along with Laxmi and Saraswati are worshipped Kalimath. At the temple of Kalimath, the object of devotion is Sri Yantra. Along with the temple of Kali, the temples dedicated to other deities, namely, Laxmi, Saraswati, Gauri Shankar, are also situated.

Bisurital Trek

One of the glistening high altitude lakes of Uttarakhand is Bisuri Tal. Starting from Chopta, the lake Bisurital can be reached after a trek of 60 km from Chopta. Enroute to Bisurital, one can witness the marvelous creations and sightings of Mother Nature, ranging from glittering river streams, lush green forests, alpine meadows and if it’s your lucky day, you can experience the sight of wildlife prominent in the region.

Madhyamaheshwar Mandir

Situated in the Goundar village in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, Madhyamaheshwar or Madmaheshwar is a Hindu temple, devoted to Lord Shiva. Madhyamaheshwar temple is located at an elevation of 3497 m (11473.1 feet) with Ukhimath being the winter seat of Madmaheshwar. Madhyamaheshwar Mandir is one of the Panch Kedar pilgrimage sites. This temple also got a rich legend connected with the Hindu epic, Mahabharata. 

Auli

Also referred to as Auli Bughyal, Auli is a mesmerizing hill station in the Chamoli district in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state.
